Improved retention policies and deletion options, more users per instance, and updated certifications

Viersen, March 23, 2023 +++ MailStore by OpenText, the German specialist for email archiving, today launches the new version 23.1 of its MailStore email archiving portfolio. The update contains important new features, especially for the business solutions MailStore Server and MailStore Service Provider Edition (SPE).

From now on, administrators of MailStore Server and MailStore SPE have access to the extended retention policies. These allow for an even more granular configuration of policies, which among other things play an important role in complying with certain GDPR requirements. Administrators can now individually define for selected archives how long emails should be archived and if/when they should be deleted again. In addition, administrators get an extended deletion method for archives in MailStore Client: If required, they can select and delete multiple archives at the same time.

Managed Services Providers using MailStore SPE can now provide their managed service based on MailStore SPE to more users per customer instance at the same time. Following continuous performance improvements and in-depth testing, MailStore is increasing the recommended maximum number of concurrent users per instance from 500 to 2,000. This change applies to MailStore SPE – the user limit for MailStore Server was already increased in 2021 with V13.2.

As usual, the 23.1 versions of MailStore Server and MailStore SPE each underwent two audits to have them certified by an independent IT auditor and data protection expert. The certificate according to IDW PS 880 confirms that both solutions enable GoBD-compliant email archiving; the second certificate relates to the processing of personal data, which for both solutions complies with the requirements of the EU Data Protection Regulation and the Federal Data Protection Act (DSG) in Switzerland, respectively.
