Technical support for MailStore SPE
With the MailStore Service Provider Edition (SPE), you can offer your customers modern email archiving as a service and thus add an important component to your existing service portfolio. The MailStore Service Provider Edition is shipped as a software solution that can be tailored to your individual requirements for operation on your own servers.
The comprehensive technology concept of the MailStore SPE helps your customers to meet a growing number of compliance requirements and can also assist with eDiscovery scenarios.
The MailStore SPE is regularly certified by independent data privacy experts according to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The software can help customers meet their obligations under the GDPR, among others, by defining sophisticated retention policies. You can request a copy of the official GDPR audit certificate from [email protected] anfragen.
Why Archive Emails?
With the MailStore SPE, you can offer your customers all the benefits of a modern email archiving system. The MailStore SPE creates perfect copies of all emails in a central archive, thus ensuring the availability and security of any amount of data over many years. Your customer’s users can still access their emails and browse them quickly, for example with the help of a seamless integration with Microsoft Outlook.
When selecting a managed-service provider for email archiving, end users need a service that will help them ensure the integrity, availability and confidentiality of their business-critical information. The MailStore Service Provider Edition applies an instance-based concept where each end customer is given its own, self-contained MailStore instance that runs completely separately from the instances of other customers.
Generally, instances are administered centrally by the service provider via the web-based Management Console or the API. This includes creating new instances and managing archive locations.
A further administrative role exists, however. This is the “archive administrator”, who is responsible for tasks taking place within an instance, such as configuring compliance settings and granting user privileges. Depending on requirements, this role can be performed by the service provider or by the end customer itself. A specialty here is that only the archive administrator has access to the emails archived in the instance. If required, a business model can be implemented such that the service provider does not have direct access to the end customer’s data.
This mode is suitable for service providers that have only a limited number of customers or users, and can be set up within a few minutes. All MailStore SPE components are installed on precisely one server in a single setup process. A transition to multi server mode if and when customer numbers increase can be made at any time without problems.
In multi server mode, the individual components of the MailStore Service Provider Edition (instance hosts and client access servers) are run on any number of different servers and administered and monitored centrally by the management server. This ensures full scalability, allowing you to provide even large numbers of customers with your service.
The Management Server’s task is to centrally manage and monitor all the components of the MailStore SPE. Administrator control is either web-based (via the Management Console) or conducted via an API.
The job of the instance hosts is to operate the instances created for customers. If the existing instance hosts are running at full load, additional hosts can be added so that more instances can be run.
End customers use the Client Access Server to access their instances. The provision of multiple Client Access Servers allows different load balancing and security concepts to be implemented.
