Freemailers with extended security requirements
Update October 16: Google has unblocked our app. Outlook.com, live.com and hotmail.com are still blocked unfortunately.
Google and Microsoft are tightening the security requirements for their free email services gmail, outlook.com, hotmail and live.com. In the short term, this can lead to undesirable effects when archiving with MailStore.
Both providers enforce the use of “Modern Authentication” when logging on to their free email services and require verified client applications. This change poses additional challenges for third-party vendors.
MailStore customers who archive emails from Gmail accounts currently receive a warning that the application is not verified. In some cases, new logins are also blocked. We are working on a re-verification of our application with a Google-authorized test lab. Unfortunately, we cannot speed up this process. We therefore ask affected customers to be patient. The application is then expected to work again without any further changes to the affected systems.
Microsoft has also announced that it will enforce “Modern Authentication” with OAUTH 2.0 at outlook.com, hotmail.com and live.com. We are also preparing a solution for this, which we expect to make available in one of the next software releases. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that Microsoft freemailers may also temporarily experience similar difficulties.
