MailStore – When archiving from MDaemon, mailing list messages do not appear in each user’s archive

ID: 13802

Summary

In MailStore when archiving from a MDaemon mail server using Multidrop archiving, list messages may not appear in each individual recipient’s archive.

Cause

By default, MDaemon will apply content filtering to only a one instance of a mailing list message, prior to adding the delivery headers required by MailStore.

Resolution

MDaemon can be configured to pass messages sent to mailing lists through the content filter for each recipient, providing MailStore with the information needed to archive messages.

  1. Access MDaemon’s administrative console.
  2. Navigate to the “Mailing List Manager” section.
  3. Locate and select “Mailing List Settings”.
  4. Disable the option “Apply content & spam filters to list mail before cracking individual copies.”

Changing this option changes the behaviour of MDaemon’s content filter and may result in higher load on the MDaemon server due as list messages now pass through the content filter on a per-recipient basis.

Test the archiving functionality by sending an email to an MDaemon mailing list and inspect a list member’s archive to ensure the message was placed into the archive.
