Domains are unique to all customers of MailStore Cloud and are used to identify users. If you use Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, domains will be synchronized as verified automatically, so there is no need for a manual domain verification. In case you want to add a domain manually to use it for users that are manually added or synchronized from Active Directory or LDAP, you need to verify the domain first to prove your ownership of the domain.

Prerequisites

  • The domain must be publicly available.
  • You need to be able to manage the domain’s DNS zone.
  • The DNS management needs to support TXT DNS entries.

Verification Process

  • Add your domain to MailStore Cloud in the domain management.
  • Once the domain is created, copy the verification code that is displayed in the domain list to your clipboard.
  • Configure a TXT verification record in the DNS zone of your domain:
    • Please contact your DNS provider how to configure a TXT record in the DNS zone for your domain.
    • The content for the TXT record has to be configured as following:
      "v=MAILSTORE-VERIFY; p=<verification-code>"

      Please replace the place holder with the copied verification code.

    • The DNS provider might not apply the changes instantly to the DNS zone. You might have to wait until the changes are available in the internet’s DNS system. Please contact your DNS provider for details.
  • Once the changes are available in the internet’s DNS system, click the “Verify” icon in the domain management.
    • If you see an error message that the DNS record is invalid:
      • DNS caches might still not be up date. Please try again later.
      • If the error persists, check if the record is correctly formatted and the verification code matches the one from the domain management.
  • After a successful verification, the domain will be listed as verified in the domain management.
