Cause
The problem occurs when uninstalling a web browser (e.g., Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox) while the browser is set as the default browser.
Resolution
Open Regedit on the user account that experiencing the problem and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClasses.html section of the registry.
- Right-click on the value for the .html key > Select Modify
- Change the value from “ChromeHTML” or “FireFoxHTML” to “htmlfile”.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the .htm and .shtml keys if they exist.
- Check the .xhtml and .xhtm keys.
Additional Information
The error report may include other details including, but not limited to “MailStore is unable to open a web page in Microsoft Outlook. The most common reason is functionality blocked by group policies”, or reference “WAIT_FOR_HWND_TIMEOUT”.
