MailStore – E-mails exported into the files system do not have a descriptive name

ID: 13610

Summary

In MailStore Server, e-mails exported into the file system as EML or MSG files do not have a descriptive expression but only an internal ID as a name, therefore their content cannot be deduced from the filenames.

This issue was reported in (but may not be limited to):

  • MailStore Server
  • MailStore SPE

Resolution

Export or move the e-mails in a directory which is indexed by Windows Search. Then enable additional columns in Windows Explorer such as BCC addresses, BCC names, CC addresses, CC names, From addresses, From names, Date Sent, Date received, To addresses, To names and Subject to identify the e-mail message.

User folders are indexed by Windows Search by default.

On the computers where Lync/Skype for Business is installed, indexing of MSG files might not work and e-mails should be exported in EML format then.
